Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP)
Ricarda Rosskopf, Master's student from the Department of Earth Sciences, receives an ESOP scholarship.

“My nationality is German, I grew up in Vienna and I completed my Bachelor's degree at ETH.
The title of my proposal is Mg isotopy in seawater during the Marinoan glaciation. I am fascinated by this subject where I am particularly interested in how methods from macroscopic observations to chemical analyses of rocks can be used to reconstruct their formation, and the environmental conditions at that time.
Ideally, I hope that my future work can help to better understand and perhaps better manage current climate change. After my Master's study I would like to complete a doctorate and then continue to work in research.
In addition to studying, it is important for me to advocate for ‘mental health awareness’. That's why I've been a member of the Nightline board for two years. We are a group of trained students, offering an anonymous hotline for students to talk about any problems they are having.”
The Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP) supports students with a scholarship, mentorship and a network of the ETH Zurich Foundation. The scholarship covers the full study and living costs during the Master's degree course.
