Master's degree graduation ceremony 2023
The Master's Graduation Ceremony of the Department of Earth Sciences took place on Friday, 1 December 2023. Congratulations to our successful graduates!

At this year’s Master’s degree graduation ceremony, 49 graduates received their degrees in Earth Sciences and 22 graduates in Atmospheric and Climate Science.
Prof. Olivier Bachmann, Deputy Head of Department, hosted the Master’s degree graduation ceremony. The keynote speaker for this year, Dr. Matthias Braun, CEO of Nagra, explained to the audience the skills he particularly values in employees: curiosity, motivation, integration, and interaction.
Awards
The awards were presented by the Director of Studies Prof. Andreas Fichtner.
- The ETH medal for an outstanding Master’s thesis went to Ali Ahmed Shaikhsulaiman (supervisor: Prof. Andreas Fichtner) and Madeleine Santos (supervisor: Dr. Lisa-Marie Bröder).
- The Willi Studer Prize 2023 for the best student in our Master's degree programmes was awarded to Gergana Gyuleva (MSc in Atmospherice and Climate Science) and to Dominic Hildebrandt (MSc in Earth Sciences).
