Profil

Andreas Fichtner is Full Professor for Seismology and Wave Physics at ETH Zurich. In January 2010, he received his PhD from the externe Seite University of Munich for his work on Full Seismic Waveform Inversion for Structural and Source Parameters. During his postdoc at externe Seite Utrecht University, Andreas worked on the development of resolution analysis and multi-scale methods for seismic waveform inversion.

Andreas' principal research interests include the development and application of methods for full seismic waveform inversion, resolution analysis in tomography, earthquake source inversion, seismic interferometry, and inverse theory. For his work, Andreas received the 2011 externe Seite Keiiti Aki Award from the American Geophysical Union, the 2015 externe Seite Early Career Scientist Award from the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics, and the 2018 externe Seite Hoffmann Prize from the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. Since 2018, he acts as associate editor for the Journal of Geophysical Research.
