About the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences
The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (D-EAPS) is a teaching and research unit of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich).
The department fulfils the tasks assigned to it in the areas of research, planning, and teaching. With its Bachelor's and Master's programmes, it offers a sound education for future managers in business and society. Theory and practice go hand in hand thanks to the wide range of complementary courses, teaching excursions, and excellent research infrastructure in the department.
Our multidisciplinary approach combines the specialisations of our Institutes of “Geology”, “Geophysics”, and “Geochemistry and Petrology” in the cross-thematic research fields of “Earth Surface Systems”, “Earth and Planetary Dynamics”, and “Georesources and Geohazards”.
This departmental self-image leads to a very good response to our research results worldwide.
