Climate and Water
The Major in Climate and Water imparts in-depth knowledge of the interrelation between climate, cryosphere, hydrosphere, and weather.
Primary goal of the climatology is to understand the processes that drive the climate and its variations. Hydrology deals with questions regarding water management and provides basic knowledge about water cycle and its relations to climate, vegetation, soil and solid rock.
Students fulfill core and optional course requirements and internships, and take excursions, field and block courses, thereby acquiring an exemplary insight into the fields of atmosphere, climate and cryosphere. The selection of special topics of focus is an ideal first step toward the specialised Master degree in Atmospheric and Climate Science.
Classes are taught in collaboration with the Institute of Atmospheric and Climate Science (IAC) at the Department of Environmental Systems Science.
