Specific requirements
The specialised Master's programme in Space Systems is open to Bachelor's students from engineering, natural or system-oriented science. Admission may be subject to additional requirements based on previous education to guarantee that students attain comparable levels of academic proficiency, irrespective of their backgrounds.
With a university Bachelor's degree
The specific requirements comprises a total of 80 ECTS and is based on the knowledge and skills taught in the Bachelor's degree programmes at ETH Zurich. This also includes the corresponding methodological and scientific thinking. Only students with very good academic performance in the previous study programme will be admitted to the Space Systems programme.
The essential prerequisites primarily encompass a strong foundation in basic knowledge and skills in the disciplines of mathematics and physics (40 ECTS), alongside a subject-specific knowledge and skills in technical, scientific or engineering fields (40 ECTS).
Bachelor in Earth and Climate Sciences
Earth and Climate Sciences students interested in the specialised Master’s programme in Space Systems can follow this route in their third year if they plan their studies accordingly. In both majors “Geology and Geophysics” and “Climate and Water” is sufficient scope to fit the requirements into the regular Bachelor's programme.
With a Bachelor's degree from a Swiss University of Applied Sciences
Candidates who hold a Bachelor's degree from a Swiss University of Applied Sciences may also be admitted to the degree programme, provided the prerequisites (80 ECTS) are met and very good academic performance has been achieved in the Bachelor's studies. The admission is always granted with the condition that missing subject-specific and methodological knowledge is compensated by additional academic requirements amounting to at least 40 ECTS.
