External Master's thesis
Students in the Specialised Master in Space Systems may write their Master's thesis at another university or research institution in Switzerland or abroad.
Even if you work with an external partner, your Master's thesis is still considered an ETH thesis. This means you must have a main supervisor at ETH who is responsible for the academic supervision and the final grading.
Before making any concrete arrangements with an external institution, find an ETH main supervisor who agrees to support an externally hosted Master's thesis. Your thesis must still follow the usual departmental guidelines. External partners may support your work and provide additional supervision, but the academic responsibility always remains with your ETH supervisor.
