Selection of courses
Exchange students have to take a minimum of 20 ECTS and a maximum of 30 ECTS per semester and are free to choose these from all levels of courses in the Earth Sciences programme. 2/3 of the ECTS should be earned in courses of the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (course number beginning with 651-...) or, by arrangement, in courses of Department of Environmental Systems Science (701-...). Exchange students may conduct a research project or write their bachelor/master's thesis in one of the three research institutes. It is important that the study plan is coordinated with the curriculum of the home university.
Application
To apply as a visiting student in the Earth and Climate Sciences study programme, please use the Mobility-Online portal.
Transcript of records
At the end of the exchange study programme and before returning to their home university, visiting students must apply for a transcript of records.
Project mobility students
Students from another university can complete a research or thesis project at ETH Zurich as a project mobility student independent of an exchange agreement.
The requirements and application procedure are detailed on the ETH project mobility student page.
Interested Bachelor's or Master's students need to find an ETH professor hosting them before submitting an application.
