Self-organised exchanges
Information on the recognition of individual courses at foreign universities for exchanges outside an ETH mobility programme.
Self-organised exchanges are only possible for students with an ETH Bachelor's degree. Students with a Bachelor's degree from another Swiss university may apply for recognition in exceptional cases, provided that the study advisor has given his or her consent.
Principles
- You must organise the stay abroad yourself, including the application to the host university.
- You must gather information on the admissions policy and tuition fees directly from the respective office at the host university.
- The departments determine whether academic achievements abroad will be recognised. Therefore you must contact the exchange coordinator early before your stay abroad.
Procedure
As a rule, courses can only be credited for approved stays.
- The consent of the student's advisor must be obtained in advance.
- Fill out the Download crediting form for exchange semester (PDF, 242 KB) and send it to the exchange coordinator (cc to study coordination).
- After successful completion, the transcript/confirmation must be sent to the exchange coordinator.
- The original transcript or course confirmation must be submitted to the Study Administration.
